What’s the Worst That Could Happen?
Speaker: Alexandra Robinson
Panelists:
- Susan Shutrump
- Anthony Shields
- Rosalyn Vann-Jackson
Description: Some times decisions must be made in the moment, when there is no time to weigh the pros and cons. How do you ensure the decision you make is the best possible one given the information available at the time? This session offers attendees several scenarios to discuss and problem-solve: Equipment selection, budgets, driver shortages, and an individual child’s needs. You have to do something, so what’s it going to be? A panel of experts will take attendees through the thought processes that guide the decisions to be made.
Keynote
10:15 a.m – 11:45 a.m.
Keynote: Creative Solutions to Difficult SPED Requests
Keynote: Dana Rosen
Description: Too often, transportation discovers the details of service “requests” after the fact, the result of which can lead to efficiencies if not safety issues for the students as well as school employees. How can and should student transporters better communicate safety needs and service that is in the best interest of students when administration or parental demands run in direct contradiction? A former special education turned student transportation behavior and safety expert shares tips on how to insert yourself into these decision-making scenarios when you are not a part of the IEP meeting.
